Obituary

Curtis Edward Lindsey, Jr., 80, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Pastor Jim Akins and the Rev. Gary Cadwell officiating. Mr. Lindsey will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, February 3, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Members of the Macon, Warner Robins and Perry Fire Departments will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Tifton VFW Post.

Born October 15, 1942, in Macon, Mr. Lindsey was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Edward Lindsey, Sr. and Mildred K. Lindsey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sara Lindsey. He served in the United States Navy as a MM3 and served on the Oriskany ship. He was on the Macon Fire Department from 1969 to 1970 and again from 1971 to 1972. He worked on the Warner Robins Fire Department from 1973 to 1985. He also worked on the Perry Fire Department from 1986 to 2004. He was a member of the Tifton VFW Post, and he was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Lindsey is survived by one son, Kenny Lindsey of California; one daughter and son-in-law, Deborah “Beth” Lindsey Holloway and husband, Jeff of Tifton; three grandchildren, Kristen Lynn Lindsey of Warner Robins, Ryan Lindsey and wife, Rachael of Tifton and Shawn Lindsey of Tifton; and several cousins and bonus daughter, Michelle Cooper.
