Obituary

Judith M. Olson, 82, of Worcester, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Monday January 30, 2023. Judy was predeceased by her husband Robert F. Olson, son William P. Olson of Worcester, and brothers Paul LaComfora Jr. and Drew Frenier.

She was born to parents Paul LaComfora and Malvina Frenier, on February 1, 1940 in Worcester and later was raised by her mother and step-father Francis Frenier. She was a resident of Worcester for most of her adult life in the Grafton Hill neighborhood. Judy earned her GED from Doherty High School and worked at CVS on Grafton St. in Worcester for many years.

She is survived by her son Robert F. Olson Jr. and his wife Leslie of Fleming Island, FL., daughter in law Phyllis (Phenix) Olson wife of William, son Edward J. Olson of Bourne, MA., daughter Christine L Olson-Dodd of Uxbridge, MA., and Peter J. Olson and his wife Kerry of Blackstone, MA.

She leaves nine grandchildren who were her joys, with whom she shared many special memories: Samantha Belpido, Chelsea Olson, Shelby Olson, Alyssa Dodd, Erika Olson, Mikayla Olson, Ryan Olson, Sean Olson and Nicholas Olson, as well as two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She also is survived by four brothers and sisters, Frank Frenier of Georgia, Claire McGovern of Dudley, Anna Ouellette of Webster, and Nina Adams of Indiana

Judith was a very dedicated parent, crafter and avid sports fan. She was very active in all her children’s lives, including coaching softball at the Jack Barry Little league. She also spent many hours knitting and quilting. She would find great relaxation and joy in quilting and knitting blankets that are still displayed in her home. She also was a true Red Sox fan and by that she complained about every move they made. She loved going to Fenway Park to cheer the team on. When they finally won the World Series in 2004 you could hear her screams of joy across the city.

When not watching sports or crafting, you could find Judy playing Bingo with her close friends and daughter. She would frequent the Bingo parlors at Foxwoods and at Sacred Heart – St. Catherine’s of Sweden. These nights provided many memories with people she cared greatly for.

A Mass of Christian Burial which will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday February 4, 2023 at Sacred Heart – St. Catherine of Sweden at 596 Cambridge St. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the St. John’s Food Pantry of Worcester, MA. as it continues to be a very difficult time for those in need.
