Obituary

John Patrick “Pat” Dunphy, born October 17, 1945 from Newfoundland Canada a long time resident of Charlestown Massachusetts and most recently of North Andover Massachusetts, passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones after a long and hard fought illness.

Pat was born in Newfoundland Canada to John “Jack” Dunphy and Elizabeth “Betty” Smith Dunphy. He grew up in Charlestown where he met and married the love of his life Judie Dunphy (Thompson) who passed in 2021 after 51 years of marriage. Pat worked as an Computer Programmer at Stone and Webster Engineering since he was 17 years old and at Boston Police since 1992 as a Computer Programmer until he retired in 2013. He was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1986 and never gave into his illness.

He leaves behind two beloved children, his son Shaun Dunphy and his wife Erin of Woburn, his daughter Tricia and her partner Dean Meece of North Andover, Massachusetts. He was the proud grandfather of Connor, Owen and Claire Dunphy. He is the dear brother-in-law of Stephen Thompson. He loved dogs, especially his grand dog Murray who passed away and his best friend Eloise who he shared countless French fries with and was by his side until the end.

Pat loved photography, reading and starting (and sometimes finishing) home improvement projects. He loved going to his grandkids hockey games and dance recitals and yearly family vacations.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Pats' Funeral on Thursday February 2, 2023 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown. His burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. His visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.

For the last nine months he was a resident of Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation where he received amazing care by the nurses and CNAs who treated him like family.
