Obituary

John G. Turinese, 80, of Franklin, passed away peacefully, with family at his side, Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, following a brief illness.

Born on October 6, 1942 in Milford, John was the only child of the late Marino and Lena (Pasquantonio) Turinese.  A proud member of what he would call "The Old Italians" of Franklin, John was fortunate to be raised in a period when family came above all else. He need only walk down a flight of stairs to join his cousin/chosen brother Dick D'Amico in some boyhood antics, or up a flight to bask in the wisdom and love of his maternal grandmother. He reflected on those days on Wachusett Street frequently, and carried that close connection to family throughout his life.

John graduated from Franklin High School, briefly attended Wentworth Institute of Technology and completed 3 years with the Army National Guard stateside in Kentucky and Massachusetts.  He found his vocation in real estate and credited his success to partnering with the late John "Jack" Dean.  Along with Jack, and their friend and partner Ron Bucchanio, John also enjoyed many years of involvement with the beloved local restaurant Pipinelle's.  Another wealth of material for his story telling to both friends and strangers alike. He was also succesful with his own real estate appraisal company for many years up until his retirement.

John had many hobbies.  He frequently hunted, was a skilled wood craftsman and enjoyed all things of speed:  Formula racing, helicopters, airplanes, and gunmanship.  His favorite locations were boating in NH, hunting in Maine, or sunning himself on the Cape or Marco Island.  He had been a "Corvette" enthusiast for decades and belonged to the Eastern Mass Corvette Club.  John would proudly recount how many times his car got an award at local shows for being quite a "beauty."

John is survived by the children that he was so proud of, Ami Daley and her husband Tom of Wrentham, Tracie Turinese of Cumberland, Rhode Island and Jon C. Turinese of Wareham.  He also leaves behind his 5 cherished grandchildren, Tommy, Dylan, Sean & Sissy Daley, Nariah Turinese, as well as his former wife and dear friend Lynn Manning. He was predeceased by the mother of his daughters, Pamela (Brown) Grassel.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours Wednesday February 1st, in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage Street, from 8:30-10:30AM.

His funeral Mass will follow, in St. Mary's Church, 1 Church Square, Franklin at 11AM.

Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery will be held privately at a later date.
