Obituary

Shirley J. (Holbrook) Parker, age 96, a lifelong resident of Winchester, passed away on January 27, 2023, lovingly surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Earl W. Parker, Jr.

Born in Winchester, Shirley was the daughter of Parker and Anna (Arnold) Holbrook. She was raised and educated in Winchester and was a graduate of Winchester High School. It was at Winchester High School, and at the First Baptist Church in Winchester, where she was a lifetime member, that she met the love of her life, Earl W. Parker, Jr.

After high school, Earl enlisted in the Navy, and they married when he returned home. They stayed in Winchester and raised their family while owning and operating a Gulf Service Station in Woburn. As a homemaker, Shirley’s life was lovingly dedicated to her family. In her spare time, she volunteered her time at her church and in the Winchester community, including at Winchester Hospital. She was also a dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star, enjoyed reading and spending time vacationing in Wells, Maine.

Shirley is survived by her children: Jody Roy and her husband David, Carol Bouchard and her husband Bruce, all of Woburn, Scott Parker and his wife Sharon of Dracut. She was the dear sister of the late Arnold Holbrook and Marjorie Hayden, the devoted grandmother of Matthew Roy (Kasey), Brian Roy (Stephanie), Melanie McNulty (Franky), Christopher Bouchard (Rilie), Nicholas Bouchard (Sarah), Amanda Nowell (Allen), Brianna Parker, Danielle Parker and Marissa Parker, and the cherished great-grandmother of Parker Roy, Cameron Roy, Avery Roy, Grady Roy, Tucker Roy, Makenzie McNulty, Morgan Nowell, Avery Nowell, Owen Evans and Wilson Evans. Shirley also leaves behind a niece Beverly Holbrook Treen and her husband Colin, and a great-nephew, David Treen.
Friends and family are kindly invited to gather for Visiting Hours at Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Wed., Feb. 1 from 9-11AM. A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home at 11AM. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
