Erika Kathe (Maas) Mairle, 88, of Franklin died January 26 at the Willows in Medway following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late George F. Mairle who died in 1999.
Born in Murrhardt, Germany, May 10,1934, the daughter of the late Wilhelm and Klara (Henniger) Maas, Erika was raised in Germany and came to America in 1963, first living in Jamaica Plain, Waltham and Sudbury before moving to Southern California in 1973, and then coming to Franklin in 1977.
She had worked in the cafeteria at Tri County High School for many years before retiring.
Erika enjoyed needlepoint, knitting and gardening.
She is survived by her children, Solveigh Vinchesi of Franklin and Tom Mairle and his wife Wendy of North Attleboro.
She is also survived by her brother Franz Maas of Germany and was the sister of the late Heinz and Gustav Maas.
Erika is also survived by her granddaughters, Jessica Marie and Nicole Corrine.
Her services will be private.
