Stephen Vince Poppell, 66, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. John Hughes officiating. Mr. Poppell will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 28, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mike Moore, Brian Rudeseal, Gabe Martinez, Spud Bowen, Alan Collins and Larry McBrayer will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Elks Lodge in Tifton.
Born April 3, 1956, in Tallahassee, Florida, Mr. Poppell was the son of Betty McCalvin Poppell of Tifton and the late Farrah Vince Poppell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Rhonda Marie Revels Poppell; and one sister, Vickie Malloy. He worked on the production line at Heatcraft, and he was a member of the Tifton Elks Lodge.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Poppell is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jason Michael and Valerie Poppell of Tifton; one sister, Brenda Poppell Erb of Tallahassee, Florida; and one grandson, Jaxson Poppell.
