Obituary


DEVINE, DENNIS JAMES long time resident of Beverly, MA entered into eternal rest of January 19, 2023. He was the son of the late Edward Patrick Devine, PV1st Class, 66th Panther Division US ARMY and Eleanor Molligi Devine as well as the brother of the late Edward Ronald Devine all of Lynn, MA. Dennis leaves one sister Gail Devine Mower of Lynn, one nephew and Godson Sean D. Mower of Epping, NH, his ex-wife Susan Amirault Cassidy and his friend & partner Brian Campbell of Beverly as well as many cousins and friends.

Dennis was born on July 18, 1950 in Lynn, MA and lived part of his early life in Lynn and Boston before moving to Beverly. He attended Lynn public schools before graduating from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston with a bachelor degree as well as attending the Berklee School of Music. Dennis was gifted, talented and accomplished musician and wrote and performed his original music making videos and albums. His paintings and art have adorned many homes and businesses. His original greeting cards under DEVINE SUNRISE have sold in many stores and gift shops. Dennis worked the Massachusetts College of Art for many years as well as for Channel 2 creating drawings for their animated programs.

Due to his deep desire to help others, later in life Dennis went into the study of Natural Health and Alternative Heath Care and became a certified Muscular Therapist. He worked alternately with his music and art to help others. He started his own school in Gloucester, MA and worked as an instructor of anatomy and physiology at the Salter School of Therapy. He also worked for Elements Massage Therapy.

Dennis was a devout Catholic Christian devoted Our Ladys’ Rosary and parishioner of St. Florence Church in Wakefield as well as the Church of Saint Theresa in North Reading, MA where he was invited to join their beautiful choir. Dennis should be remembered for the beauty he has left in this world through his art, music and his love for all were from his heart and soul. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his family to help with funeral expenses to St. Florence Parish in Wakefield to be designated in February as The Shrine of Lazarus Center for Healing. A graveside service will be held at St. Josephs’ Cemetery in Lynn, MA and a memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Florence Church in Wakefield. The celebrant will be Father Thomas Reilly.
