Obituary

Thomas “Tom” J. Callanan, 61, of Plymouth, Massachusetts, passed away on January 23, 2023 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital – Plymouth after a brief illness.

Born in Weymouth, Massachusetts in 1962 and son of the late Robert Callanan Sr. and Leona (Allen) Callanan, Tom was raised in Whitman, Massachusetts and attended Whitman Hanson Regional High School. After a short time at Northeastern University, he went on to join the Carpenters Union, Local 424, where he proudly worked until retirement.

Tom was a great high school football player and an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. Tom was a true storyteller and you could always find him laughing at his own jokes.

He is the brother of the late Robert Callanan Jr., and survived by Kathleen Schmit, Claire Roppolo, and Brenda Sorrentino, all of Whitman and Hanson, Massachusetts. He is the loving father of his son, Thomas M. Callanan of Middleborough, Massachusetts and his two daughters, Karis Callanan of Plymouth, Massachusetts and Kayla Callanan of Boca Raton, Florida. He is also loved by his many nieces and nephews. Tom was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend services on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, 666 Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, Massachusetts. A private ceremony will be planned and communicated at a later date.
