Obituary

Mr. George Dukas, a resident of Haverhill, MA, formerly of Andover, MA, and beloved husband of Priscilla (Angelicas) passed away peacefully with his family present at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston on Monday afternoon, January 23, 2023. He was 81 years old.

George was a US Army veteran, entering the military on September 8, 1960 and received his honorable discharge from Fort Hamilton, New York on August 28, 1963. He was a Rifle Marksman.
In civilian life, George was the proprietor of The Lantern Brunch on Main Street in Andover, MA for 40 years where he was beloved by the entire community. His parents, wife, and children all worked at the restaurant during his time there. George enjoyed Sunday drives, Greek music, and spending time with his beloved family, particularly his five grandchildren. With no hobbies after he retired at 75, George decided to go back to work part-time at Market Basket in North Andover where he could connect with so many of his former customers. He will be dearly missed.

Besides his beloved wife, Priscilla, George is survived by his loving children: Maria E. Gudinas and her husband Anthony M. of Atkinson, NH and James G. Dukas and his wife Carla F. of Windham, NH; brother Robert "Bobby" Dukas and his wife Nancy of Middleton, MA and brother-in-law George Angelicas and his wife Shirley of Venice, FL; grandchildren: Alana, Corina, Sophia “Toby,” Christopher and Paul; nieces and nephews: Monica and Jack Andrellos of North Reading, MA, Cynthia and Wayne Burner of Mexico, Mike Angelicas and his partner Jeff Bilby, of Rochester, NH and Nicholas Angelicas of Venice, FL along with several cousins. George is pre-deceased by his parents James and Angela Dukas of Andover, MA.

His Funeral Service will be celebrated at Sts. Constantine & Helen Church, 71 Chandler Road, Andover, MA on Friday, January 27, 2023, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visitation will also be held at the church, prior to the service, from 9:30 to 11 AM. Interment will be held in the Linwood Cemetery in Haverhill, MA. Donations in George's memory may be made to Sts.
