Obituary

Jean Emilio Ophelien and nickname "Yoyo" was born in La Paine, part of Port-Au-Prince, located on the Gulf of La GonĂ¢ve, a wide harbor on the southwestern coast of the Caribbean region's second largest island, Hispaniola Haiti. Yoyo moved to Guadeloupe in his late teens, traveled the West Indies including St. Maarten and moved to the United States of America in his late 20s. His family consists of the following members including extended family: Jean is survived by his mother Marie Fleurencia Benoit and his father the late Saint Louis Ophelien, Siblings; Marie Wislene Ophelien AKA Marie Erzulie Ophelien, Marie Lyvie Ophelien Colin, Lanissau Ophelien, Triana Ophelien Waldron, Marie France Ophelien Simon Yoyo's Children: Emilson Ophelien (Deceased) Charlene Ophelien, Kerry Ophelien and Kevin Ophelien. Yoyo had 3 grandchildren, 12 nephews and nieces and 2 grandnieces.

Yoyo was known as a man of integrity, discipline and hard worker. He loved his family and was always proud to talk about his sisters. His friends loved him. To us, he was an inborn philosopher, an advocate and a debater. He had the voice. He was wise, poised and collective. His appearance and countenance on this earth portrayed an abundance of, wealth, elegance and grandeur. We believe that all the attributes we saw in him will be carried onto the next life. He is a giant son of God, May his soul rest in Peace!

Viewing Hours will be on Friday February 3, 2023 from 6-8 PM in the Joseph Russo Funeral Home, 814 American Legion Highway, Roslindale.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday February 4, 2023 from 9:30 - 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 79 Mt. Hope Street, Roslindale, MA. Burial will be immediately followed at Oak Lawn Cemetery, 427 Cummins Highway, Roslindale.
