It is with much sadness that the family of Daniel Sylvia Sr., of Westport, MA announce his passing on January 21, 2023 at the age of 65. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New Bedford, MA. on July 23, 1957, the son of the late Antone and Norma Sylvia. He resided in Westport most of his life.
Daniel will be remembered for his humor, craftiness, his desire to help others, his musical ability, and his love for his children. One of his greatest joys was making people laugh.
Daniel was a long time employee of the United States Postal Service and was able to retire and spend more time doing the things he loved. Throughout his life he enjoyed reading, camping, working with his hands, cooking, and spending time with those he loved.
He leaves behind his son Daniel Sylvia Jr., of Fall River; daughter Lauren Sylvia and her partner William of Southbridge,MA; sister Brenda Furtado and her husband Kenneth of Westport; sister Shirley Jaye and her husband Wayne of Freetown; sisters Norma Jean Makara,Elaine Alcaidinho and her husband Joseph of Orlando,FL; brother Antone Sylvia Jr. and his wife Alma of Coventry, RI; sister Lori Nichols and her husband Stephen of Fall River. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, several friends and other extended family.
Daniel was predeceased by his step-son Anthony Brazil, brother Kenneth Sylvia, and his brother-in-law David Makara.
Visiting hours to which relatives and friends are invited will be on Friday, January 27th, 2023 from 11 AM-1 PM at Potter Funeral Home.
