Louis Poirier, 80, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, January 22, 2023. He was the husband of the late Joann (Frates) Poirier and the late Faith Poirier.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Henry and Elma (Nolan) Poirier, he lived in New Bedford most of his life. Louis also lived in South Carolina for a few years.
Louis honorably served in the United States Marine Corps.
He was formerly employed as a Correction Officer at MCI-Norfolk for many years until his retirement.
Louis enjoyed playing video games, gambling, and spending time with his family. He also liked driving down to the docks and eating ice cream while looking at boats. His best friend was his dog Minnie.
Survivors include his son, Lance Poirier of New Bedford; his brother, Hank Poirier of New Bedford; his sister, Irene Avila of Colorado; and his girlfriend, Debbie Pacheco of New Bedford.
He was predeceased by his son, Shawn Poirier.
His services will be private.
