Matthews, Mary E. (MacNeil) on January 17, 2023, suddenly passed away from cardiac arrest. She was the wife of the late James Matthew and the daughter of the late Charles and Mary MacNeil (Foye).
Mary is pre-deceased by her brother Daniel MacNeil, her sisters Carol Czubinski and Jeannie MacNeil. She is survived by her siblings, Pat and her husband Louie Russo of Dorchester, Joanne MacNeil of Dorchester, Debbie MacNeil of South Boston, Kathy MacNeil of Middleboro, and Robert MacNeil of Dorchester, sister in-law to Chrissy MacNeil of Middleboro and aunt to Tammy and her husband Jason Moynihan of Lynn. She was the mother of Jenna MacNeil of New Bedford and Justin MacNeil of Florida and was a grandmother to three amazing and beautiful granddaughters, Yamarie, Yesibel and Yanalis.
Mary also has a large extended family including nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She had many friends and enjoyed a lifelong friendship with Johnny Hutchins, he was always there for her.
Mary was born in Dorchester, grew up in South Boston and moved to Brockton with her husband Jimmy. She loved to visit with and facetime her granddaughters, they brought her so much happiness. Her cats Patrick and Bandit were always by her side and gave her cuddles and joy and let us not forget about WWE wrestling, she never missed a match. And that laugh, you knew it when you heard it.
You may have known Mary from South Boston, Dorchester or Brockton she loved her children and grandchildren. Whatever your relationship with her was, she was always happy to see you.
A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Gregory Church, 2215 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester Feb 4 at 10:00 a.m.
