Ana (Vilela) Vaz, 95, of New Bedford, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023 at home surrounded by family. She was the wife of the late Valdemar Vaz.
Mrs. Vaz was born in Arcosso, Portugal, daughter of the late Eduardo and Albertina (Dos Santos) Vilela and had resided in New Bedford for 50 years. Prior to retirement, she worked as a stitcher for the former Calvin Clothing, New Bedford. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, New Bedford. She enjoyed life, tending to her garden and her dogs Scooter, Elvis and Elvis. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son: Herculano Vaz of New Bedford; her daughter: Maria Albertina "Tina" Cabral and her husband James of Henderson, NV; granddaughter: Ashley Tina Vaz of New Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.
She was mother of the late Eugenio Vaz and sister of the late Antonio, Guilhermino and David Vilela and Lidia Araujo.
Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, New Bedford at 9:00 A.M.
Visitation will be Thursday from 7:30 A.M.-8:30 A.M., at the Kirby Funeral Home, prior to the Mass.
Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
