Obituary


Mary J. Fumicello, a longtime Woburn resident formerly of Somerville, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the age of 87. She was the beloved wife of the late Michael Fumicello, Sr. Born in Somerville, Mary was one of six children of the late Domenic and Louise (DeVelis) Camilio.

Mary was raised in Somerville and attended Somerville schools. In addition to raising her family, Mary worked so many years as a salesperson with both the Caldor and Kohl’s Department Stores as well as owning and operating with her late husband, the former Total Home Care Hardware Stores located in Woburn and Billerica, in conjunction with M. Fumicello & Sons. Devoted to her family, Mary loved to cook, host holidays and family get togethers. She was happiest when she was surrounded by those she loved. Over the years she enjoyed traveling with some of her most memorable destinations being, Italy, Alaska, Las Vegas, Hawaii, North Carolina and She always looked forward to spending time at her summer cottage on Sunrise Lake in Farmington, New Hampshire where the family would gather and create wonderful lasting memories over the years.

Mary will fondly be remembered for always having a kind word, being supportive and always seeing the good in people. She will be greatly missed.

Mary is survived by her devoted children; Steven Fumicello and his wife Dorothy of Woburn, Donna Kergo and her husband Michael of Burlington, Edward Fumicello and his wife Maureen of Woburn, Michael Fumicello Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Woburn. She was the loving grandmother of Matthew and Christopher Kergo, E.J., Erica, Shauna and Corey Fumicello, Annmarie Ironfield and Michael Fumicello. Sister of the late Elizabeth Sousa, Frances Scienzo, Cosmo Camilio, Lidia Pandorf, and Louise Brown.

Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Tuesday, January 24th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m.
