Mary Margaret Macksyine Chamberlain of Groton died peacefully Jan. 18, 2023, at her home. Mary was born May 28, 1925, in East Hartford and lived there until moving full time to Groton in 1991. She worked for several years at Colts Firearms in the marketing department in the 1940s. She found pleasure in gardening and spending six months out of the year in their home in Vero Beach, Fla.
She leaves behind her husband of 72 years, Henry (age 99 ½); son, David (wife, Nora) and adult children, Meredith (husband, Taylor), Daniel (partner, Rachel); son Bruce (partner, Tracy) of Groton and Bruce's adult children, Bryce (wife, Claire) and their children, Carson and Owen of Mystic, Chelsea of Florida, stepson Christopher of East Lyme; son, Tom (wife, Ann) and adult children, Matthew and Timothy of Ohio; nephew, Tony Bacewicz (wife, Juliann) of Old Saybrook.
Mary's favorite saying was, "The first 100 years are the hardest."
There will be no calling hours. Burial of Christian faith will be in Middletown at the convenience of the family.
