Lucy Alma Vanoni passed peacefully to heaven on 1-15-2023, from her home in Saticoy, CA. She was born in Stockton on 12-20-1924 to Domenico & Maria Togninalli. She was very involved in many organizations, including California Women for Agriculture, Italian Catholic Federation, Sacred Heart Church and Young Ladies Institute. She loved spending time with her family, gardening and being outside enjoying the sunshine. Lucy grew up on her family dairy in Stockton, where she learned the value of hard work and determination; traits which remained with her throughout her life. She was very active and passionate about her activities and volunteered constantly. Rain or shine, you would find her at her stand, with her table full of produce, twice a week at the Ventura Farmer’s Market. As her children grew up, she was always involved in their projects, PTA, fundraisers, 4-H and even drove the school bus. She ran the County Store (Thrift Shop) for Sacred Heart Church for many years. Lucy is survived by her children David (Julie), Stephen, Mary (Richard), Anne & John, grandchildren Rosa (Nick), Eric, Angela, Nicholas (Lauren), Tony (Apple), Casey, Jesse (Alisha), Jake (Paige) and 7 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Alvin Albert Vanoni.
Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Thursday, January 26 at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 10800 Henderson Road, Ventura, with a Celebration of Life to follow Mass. In lieu of flowers the family would be grateful for any contribution to CWA, PO Box 4494, Ventura, CA 93007 for the Lucy Vanoni Memorial Agriculture Scholarship Fund.
