Whitinsville - William P. Fitzgerald passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at UMass Memorial Hospital. He is survived by 3 sisters, Mary Bruso of Oxford, Kathleen Gardner of Oxford and Theresa Lavalley of Thompson, CT. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great - niece and nephews. William was predeceased by 5 brothers, Paul, Donald, Edward, Francis and James Fitzgerald. Born in Northbridge on May 23, 1934 William was the son of the late Francis and Mary (Rumrill) Fitzgerald and was a lifelong resident of Northbridge, and attended Northbridge Public schools.
William proudly served in the Air Force as a Senior Cook and was a professional lightweight boxer in his younger days. He was an avid New England sports fan who also enjoyed fishing and cooking. He was famously known by friends and family for his commonly used phrase "The idea is".
As to his wishes there will not be any services. Dirsa - Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton Street, Worcester is assisting the family.
