Obituary

Rita (Puntieri) Acerra 70, of Millis, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, Saturday January 14, 2023 following a battle with brain cancer.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years Leo J. Acerra. She was the cherished mother of Gina R. Meleski and her husband Nicholas of Ashland, David L. Acerra and his wife Peggy of Millis and Paul J. Acerra and his wife Maria of Norwood, her eight grandchildren, Tyler, Andrew, Madison, Colin, Aubrey, Matthew, Maria and Noelle. In addition she is survived by her brothers, Vito & Freddie Puntieri of Italy, and Nick Puntieri of Norwood.

She was the sister of the late Eva Lasalvia, Angie Casadonte and Anthony M. Puntieri.

Rita was born in Olivadi, Italy, August 1, 1952 to her parents Paolo and Rosaria (Paparazzo) Puntieri. Rita immigrated to the United States when she was 8 years old with her brother Tony.

She settled with her family in Norwood, where she was a graduate of Norwood High School and continued her education at Bryant and Stratton College.

Rita was a longtime resident of Millis and worked in management for Sears Roebuck corporation for over 30 years where she met her husband Leo.

Rita enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and was passionate about cooking, fashion and decorating.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Saturday January 21st, at 9AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 1 Church Square Franklin at 10AM.

Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.

Calling hours are Friday from 5-8PM.
