Obituary




Millbury – Neil J. MacNeil, 88, of Millbury died in his home on Tuesday May 30 after an illness.

Mr. MacNeil is survived by his wife of 56 years Mildred M. (Wright) MacNeil of Millbury; one son Stephen Michael MacNeil and his wife Patricia of Holland, MA; one daughter Donna M. LaRose and her husband Keith of Warren, MA; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. MacNeil id predeceased by two sisters Anna Munyan and Rita Walsh. He was born in Worcester son of John and Mary (Coffee) MacNeil.

Mr. MacNeil is an Army veteran serving during World War II and worked for the Diocese of Worcester for over 30 years before his retirement. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Worcester and played both baseball and football for area farm league teams as well enjoying the outdoors.

The funeral will be held on Friday June 2, from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester with a mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of Lourdes Church 1290 Grafton St. Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are Thursday June 1, from 6 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
