Sharon Owens Merritt, 71, of Tifton passed away Friday, January 13, 2023, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mrs. Merritt at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2023, at Cumorah Cemetery in Douglas. Bishop Todd Brey will officiate.
Lewis Dean, Vince Walker, Jason Dyal and Chris Ticknor will serve as pallbearers.
Born September 25, 1951, in Tifton, Mrs. Merritt was the daughter of the late J. C. Owens, and Annie Adams Owens. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Michael Merritt; one son, Michael Shaun Merritt; and one daughter, Shannon Tennile Saylor. Before retiring, she was a line worker at Bold Chemical Company in Ocilla. She loved her family and her dogs and she was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Mrs. Merritt is survived by her cousins, Bonnie Dean and Vickie Wilson and many other cousins.
