Obituary

Edward “Ed” L. Bowser, 92, of Anderson, passed away at home on January 12, 2023 following a brief illness.

He was born on April 17, 1930 in Anderson, the son of William and Wilma (Boyd) Bowser. Ed was a graduate of Anderson High School, Ball State University and obtained a masters degree from Indiana University. He also served in the US Air Force.

Ed began working with The Bright Corporation at the age of 15 and in 1945, he and his brother, Bill, took over the full operation of the business which continued with four generations of the family leadership. Ed was a lifelong member of Park Place Church of God, where he faithfully served as head usher for 45 years. He was a long time member and past president of the Mounds Kiwanis Club, Companero Club member, Park Place Hymn Sing Group member and coached Park Place Church of God basketball team. Ed enjoyed tennis, biking, hiking and working in the yard.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth (Prescott) Bowser; two children, Cynthia (Rob) Shaver and Mark (Sarah) Bowser; six grandchildren, Rob (Emily) Shaver, Angela Shaver, Rachael (William) Lashbrook, Andrew Bowser, Hannah Bowser, and Rebecca Bowser; great grandson, Corin Shaver and several nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Doris McCreary and William “Bill” Bowser.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Park Place Church of God, officiated by Pastor Jonathan Grubbs. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 4-7 PM at Rozelle- Johnson Funeral Service.

Memorial Contributions may be given to Park Place Children’s Center.
