Obituary

Worcester – Roland Bedard, 95, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 with his family by his side in Notre Dame Long Term Care Center.

Mr. Bedard was married to the late Laura (DeNicola) Bedard who died in 1985. He is survived by his daughter, Laure Lee Potrikus of Worcester; two grandchildren, Matthew Potrikus and Jessica Desrochers; a great grandchild, Nico Wehner and nieces and nephews.

Roland was born in Worcester, son of the late Walter J. and Rena L. (Gregoire) Bedard and is predeceased by a brother, Gordon Bedard and a sister, Shirley Helias.

Mr. Bedard served in the United States Coast Guard and worked for over 40 years with General Electric in a variety of departments. He was a longtime member of Saint Peter’s Church and an avid golfer who enjoyed golf courses from Cape Cod to Myrtle Beach with his longtime friends.

A special thanks to The Goddard/Homestead and Notre Dame for the care and thoughtfulness they provided in Roland's last years.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 18 in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond Street at 10:30 AM. Private burial will take place in Notre Dame Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
