Obituary

Cheryl Otto, 59, passed away on January 11th, 2023 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston after a long and brave battle with heart disease and aortic stenosis. She is predeceased by her parents and leaves behind her loving only son, Kevin Barnicle of Spencer, MA.

Cheryl was born in St. Paul, MN on December 19th, 1963 to John S. W. Otto Jr. of Langford, SD and Elizabeth (Anderer) Otto of Newton, MA. She attended Newton North High School, Class of ‘81, and the Southeastern Academy of Travel and Tourism in Kissimmee, FL. Formerly of Newton Lower Falls and Natick, she was a longtime resident of Marlborough, MA, where she lived for more than 30 years before moving to Spencer, MA.

Cheryl had a long career as a server in many Metrowest area restaurants, and she also trained as a phlebotomist at the American Red Cross in Worcester. Her true passion was animal welfare. She leaves behind five cats, Dakota, Cheyenne, Nala, Apache and Cherokee, who she loved more than anything. She is predeceased by her best friend, Patches. Her favorite hobby was discovering new restaurants and she loved going to farmers’ markets and supporting the local culinary scene.

At Cheryl’s request, no funeral services are planned. Donations may be made in Cheryl’s name to BayPath Humane Society of Hopkinton, 500 Legacy Farms North, Hopkinton MA, 01748.
