O’DOHERTY Barbara M. (Tholander) of Wellesley, passed away on January 11, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Duane F. O’Doherty. Loving mother of LTC David C. O’Doherty, USA (RET) and his wife Marsha of Shrewsbury, Nancy A. Mannella of Natick, Amy H. O’Doherty of Jamaica Plain. Also survived by grandchildren Theresa, John, and Robert as well as three great grandchildren. Sister of the late Lawrence, Curtis Jr. and Stephen Tholander.
A graduate of Burdett College, Barbara was a retired secretary for the Perrin and Bates Elementary Schools in Wellesley and later at St. Julia’s Parish in Weston. She was devoted to her family, church, and community and was both a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, a Eucharistic Minister at St. James Church in Wellesley, a CCD teacher, a member of the DAR and Past President of the Wellesley Hills Women’s Club. Barbara’s spirit of adventure took her around the world including all 7 continents. May her spirit continue to soar.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul’s Church, Wellesley, on Tuesday, January 17th at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment private.
