Stephen L. Costa passed away at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in the company of his loving family on Monday morning. He was 67. Raised in Somerville he was the son of the late Joseph and Charlotte (Hardy) Costa.
After graduating from Somerville High School, Stephen served in the Navy during the Vietnam era. He came back and eventually went to work as an administrative assistant for the Commissioner of the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission. A Medford resident since 1996, Stephen was a talented softball player and played for many years. He was a big Patriots fan and followed all Boston sports. Stephen was a devoted husband and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and especially his beloved dog, Penny.
The beloved husband of Johnna (Ghiloni) Costa, Stephen was a devoted brother to Joe Costa, Judy Drake and her husband Marc, Kenny Costa, and Billy Costa and his wife Donna. Stephen is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Wednesday, January 18th from 2 – 4 PM concluding with a funeral service at 4 PM. Burial will be held privately.
