Obituary

Devin, Edward J. (Ted) on November 30th, 2022, suddenly passed away while fighting Multiple Myeloma.
Ted is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Dianne Driscoll-Devin. He is the son of the late Richard J. and Mary E. (Mazzeo) Devin, brother of Michael F and his wife Patty Devin, Marie and her husband George Burton, Sheila Devin, Brian Devin, Susan Devin and is predeceased by his brothers, Richard J (Dickie), John J (Chucka) George J, and Francis X. (Franny).

He was the beloved father of Edward, Patrick and his wife Kerry, Timothy, the late Brian Devin and stepdad to Joseph Driscoll, Kristin Driscoll, Hannah, and her husband, Ben Ireson. He loved to talk about his grandchildren, buying girl scout cookies from them and talking about how great they are at sports. He was over the moon to find out about becoming a great- grandad to his first great grandson. He had a large extended family that included many nieces and nephews.
Ted was born in South Boston, grew up in Dorchester and settled in Weymouth in his later years. He was a proud member of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. He worked as an MBTA bus and train operator for 23 years and was a supportive Barn Captain.

Ted, Teddy or Tedward never met a stranger. It did not matter where you were, he would know someone and be more than happy to stop and chat for a while. Ted enjoyed his family, friends, vacations, casinos, horse racing and spending time at the local corner store playing Keno. He also loved doing his silly dances, the Tigger, the Slim Shady, singing Brittany Spears songs and mellowing out to Yanni, “his sleepy music.” He was also a human map. You could call him if lost and he would get you to where you needed to be.

If you were visiting his home, Triple O’s, or the Rotary, he would send you off with a loud: You Don’t Have to Go Home, But You Can’t Stay Here!

A memorial Mass in his honor will be held on Saturday, January 14th, 2023, 10:30 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1203 Commercial St. Weymouth, MA.
