Obituary

Billie Sue Warren Tucker, 78, of Ocilla, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Southern Oaks in Tifton, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, Georgia. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery in Irwin County, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.

She was born in Atkinson County on March 26, 1944, the daughter of the late Eddie Warren and the late Ruth Jewel Warren. She was a graduate of Lowndes County High School in Valdosta, Georgia. She was married to the love of her life, the late Gene Tucker for 37 years. She was a retired seamstress who took great joy in the lives of those in her family and friends. After her retirement, Mrs. Tucker opened her own daycare and cared for many children from Irwin and the surrounding areas. She was affectionally known as “Aunt Sue”. Mrs. Tucker enjoyed traveling with her sisters and daughters, refurnishing furniture, collecting antiques, and working in her yard. She was a member of The Seekers, Sunday School Class at Crossview Baptist Church in Fitzgerald.

She is survived by her children Barbara Jacobs (Blane) of Fitzgerald, Georgia, Eddie Tucker (Shelly) of Ocilla, Georgia, Tammy Stone (Jay) of Griffin, Georgia, Bobby Tucker (LaTonya) of Ocilla, Georgia and Shannon Martin (Scott) of Fitzgerald, Georgia; 10 grandchildren: Ben Jacobs (Christy), Bailey Miller (Chris), Tyler Stone (Angela), Nikki Stone, Allison Tucker, Adam Tucker, Abbie Tucker, Sam Martin, Stephen Martin, Walker Tucker, and a step grandson Lane Deese; 6 great grandchildren, Callie, Crosby, Charley, Cydney, Spencer and Ronan: and sisters, Pat McCranie of Ocilla, Georgia and Cathy Roberts (Tommy) of Wray, Georgia and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Gene Tucker as well as 3 sisters: Edwina Guess, Betty Jo Powell, and Linda Gail Warren and 2 brothers: Jimmy Warren and Jackie Warren.

The family would like to express their love and gratitude to the caregivers at Southern Oaks and the Hospice of Tift Area for their compassionate and diligent care for Mrs. Tucker in her final days.
