Obituary

Maxwell Fisher Turner ( Mac ) died peacefully on December 29 with his family beside him.

Mac was born on January 23, 1939 in Fall River. He was the son of the late Maxwell Turner and Elizabeth Borden Gardner Turner and his brother was the late Dr. Richard B. Turner.

He attended Friends Academy, Tabor Academy and Boston University.
While at school in Boston he learned about the Union Boat Club. He joined immediately. Among his daily workouts, the handball game of Fives and becoming the Club Historian, he made many lifelong friendships.
He worked as a stockbroker, sold advertising for the Wall Street Journal, owned a commercial lobster boat, started a shellfish company (Maxwell’s Mussels) and worked in the real estate business.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Drew Turner, of 62 years. His late daughter Wendy Turner Taber, his son Maxwell G. Turner and his daughter Barbara Turner Corral and her husband Pablo. Wendy’s son Nathan Taber and Barbara and Pablo’s daughter Eliza.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 14th at 11:00 at the United Congregational Church of Little Compton, 1 Commons Street Little Compton, Rhode Island.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
