Rita (Freitas) Morango, 92, of Dartmouth, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Savoy Nursing & Rehabilitation in New Bedford. She was the wife of John C. Morango, Jr., they were married for 70 years.
Born in Woburn, daughter of the late Joseph G. and Julia (Bogdan) Freitas, she had lived in Dartmouth since 1961. She was a Communicant of St. George Church, Westport. Mrs. Morango was the neighborhood babysitter for many years, she enjoyed dancing, attending birthdays and other family events.
Including her husband, she is survived by 2 sons: John Morango III of Dartmouth and Frank Morango and his wife Linda of NJ; 2 daughters: Cynthia Morango of Dartmouth and Diane Morango of Fall River; 3 grandchildren: Robert Morango, Michael Morango and Leanne Morango; and several nieces and nephews.
She was sister of the late Genevieve Pacheco, Josephine Mulgrew, Eileen Flores Arruda, David Flores and Arthur Flores.
Visitation to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at the Potter Funeral Home from 10 - 11 A.M. followed by a graveside service at Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
