Obituary




Betty J. (Matejko) Taylor, 84, of Cherry Valley died Saturday, December 31st at home. Her husband, Worcester Police Officer, Robert L. Taylor, Sr. died in 1986. She leaves two sons, Joel D. Martin and his wife, Charlene of Orlando, FL, Robert L. Taylor, Jr. and his wife, Christine of Cherry Valley with whom she lived; five daughters, Cindy L. Guntor and her husband, Gary Smith of Cherry Valley, Janice A. Setaro and her husband, Steven of Worcester, Patricia J. Giuffrida and Steven R. Winkelmann of Cherry Valley, Robin M. Dawe and her husband, Jimmy of Hyannis, and Kimberly LaFleur of Union, CT; a brother, Michael Matejko and his wife, Sheila of Shrewsbury; a sister, Joan Graham of Clinton; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret “Sonny” Taylor and Linda Cook; and a brother, Richard Matejko.
She was born in Westborough the daughter of the late Michael and Dorothy (Hyland) Matejko and graduated from Westborough High School. Betty was a clerk for many years at a variety of stores including Macy’s, Filene’s, and Millbrook Distributors. She enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening, watching the birds, sitting by the pool and going to the beach. The accomplishment Betty was most proud of was being a mother and grandmother.
Her funeral is Saturday, January 7th with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made
in Betty’s name to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451.
