Mrs. Rita M. (Caissie) Croteau, a resident of Tewksbury, formerly long time resident of Andover and beloved wife of 63 years of the late Andre A. Croteau, passed away at the Prescott House in North Andover on Wednesday morning, December 21, 2022. She was 100 years old.
Born in Grande Digue, New Brunswick, Canada, she was the beloved daughter of the late Arthur and Florine (Bourque) Caissie. Rita was raised in Gardner, Massachusetts and had been employed by Sears and Roebuck Company until the end of WWII.
Rita is survived by her loving children; George A. Croteau and his companion Shirley Simpson of Bulls Gap, Tennessee, Helene R. Croteau Ruscio of North Troy, Vermont, Ernest A. and his wife Patricia A. Croteau of Andover, Charles D. and his wife Paula Croteau of Farmington, New Hampshire, Thomas P. Croteau of Haverhill and Rene F. and his wife Rosanne Croteau of Rochester, grandchildren; Jason, Lea, Jeffrey, Joseph, Desiree, Aimee, Christopher, Kathleen, Gregory, Kimberly, John and Eva, great-grandchildren; Ryla, Remy, Henry, Thomas, Raina and Michael and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Ralph Caissie, Margaret St. John and Theresa Caissie.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 10 AM. Visitation will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Friday, prior to the mass, from 8 to 9:30 AM. Interment will be held in the Notre Dame Cemetery in Gardner. Donations in Rita's memory may be made to St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover, MA 01810.
