Janice R. Thompson, 80

Dateline: Norton, MA

Janice R. (Stack) Thompson, age 80, most recently of Milford, a former longtime resident of Norton, passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 30, 2022, the day before her 81st birthday, at the UMass Medical Center in Worcester. She was the beloved wife of the late Alexander J. Thompson.

Born in Somerville, MA on December 31, 1941, she was a loving daughter of the late George, Sr. and Anna (Gravelle) Stack.

Janice grew up in Charlestown and Brighton and was a 1960 graduate of Boston Girl’s Trade School. A dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, she had also worked as an insurance administrator and hairdresser.

Janice had made her home in Norton for fifty years. She was a devout Catholic and a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield, where she made many lifetime friends. Her family was the essence of her life and she enjoyed spending time in the sun, especially entertaining by the pool at her home in Norton. Other favorite times included those spent with friends on Cape Cod and Florida and daily phone conversations with her much-loved brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her devoted children: Alexander M. Thompson and is wife Georgina of Bridgewater, Michael J. Thompson and his wife Natalie of Attleboro and Kara A. Zozzaro and her husband Michael of Milford. She was the cherished grandmother of Alex, Zachary and Kieran Thompson, Reid, Isla and Quinn Thompson and Aubrey and Kelsey Zozzaro. She was the dear sister of Ann Marie Dagle and her late husband Ronald of Shrewsbury, her twin brother George Stack and his wife Carolyn of North Reading, Joseph Stack of Auburndale, Rosemary Stravinsky and her late husband Joe of West Roxbury, Mary Connelly of Waltham, Patrick Stack and his wife PJ of Missouri, Robert Stack and his wife Janice of Orange, Joanie Stack and her longtime companion Steven of Dennis and the late Kathleen Stack. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews.


Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, January 4th from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 5th at 9:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.

In lieu of flowers, Janice’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street, Mansfield, MA 02048
