Angel L. Perez
‘The Mayor of Market Street’
LOWELL Angel L. Perez, affectionately known as ‘The Mayor of Market Street’, passed away Monday, December 26, 2022, at Tufts Medical Center in Boston a a result of multiple health complications.
A son of the late Gregório and the late Benigna (Pagan) Perez, he was born July 29, 1947, in Patillas Puerto Rico, he was raised and educated in Puerto Rico, and later Lowell, and graduated from Lowell High School.
Mr. Perez worked for Doherty Property Management in Lowell for many years, and also worked as a mechanic in the Lowell area, getting to work on his passion, cars!
The Mayor of Market Street as he was affectionately known by family and friends was always helping anyone that needed anything. His passion was cars and he loved buying cars, fixing them up, and selling them so that he could buy more cars.
His survivors include his children, Marylou Rushing and her husband, Rick, of Texas, Michael Perez of Nashua, NH and Michael Degree of Lowell; his former wife, Carmen Perez of Lowell; his step children, Alberto Medina and his wife, Idalia, of Methuen, Stephen Medina of Lowell, and Stephanie Medina and her husband, Johan Hernandez of Texas; his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren of which there are many; his siblings, Pedro Perez of Lowell, Carmen Martinez of Lowell and Idalia Martinez of Lowell; as well as his many friends including his best friends, Andrew Jacobson and Chris Doherty.
He was also predeceased by his brother David Perez.
