CHICOPEE – Rita T. (Labbe) Gagnon, 85, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, December 22, 2022. She passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Tring Jonction, Province of Quebec, Canada on June 30, 1937, a beloved daughter of the late Noel and Marie Ange (Lagueux) Labbe. She was raised in Tring Jonction, moved to Lancashire Street in the North End section of Springfield in November of 1961, and settled in Chicopee on October 28, 1999 where she lived the remainder of her life. She enjoyed traveling to Canada to visit with her family. Most of all, she took great pride in caring for her family and household, and was greatly fond of teasing her husband, Patrick. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Patrick L. Gagnon. They were married in Canada on October 28, 1961 and were blessed with over 61 years of happiness together. She also leaves her loving son, Steve J. Gagnon of Huntington Beach, CA; her four dear sisters in law, Charlotte Labbe, Monique Gagnon and her partner, Jerome Dione, and Louise Gagnon and her partner, Eugene McKoy, all of Canada, and Therese Gagnon of Chicopee; her dear brother in law, Maurice Gagnon and his partner, Rita Poulin, of Canada; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her dear brother, Jean Labbe, and her dear brother in law, Clarence Gagnon. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, 800 Montgomery Street, Chicopee, MA 01013.
