Floyd Evans Jr. passed away peacefully on December 20, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Floyd was born in Irvington, New Jersey to Floyd Evans and the late Lillian (Pearn) Evans born into a Navy family he moved around a lot growing up. He attended St Bernard's and Norfolk Catholic high school where he played on the football teams.He graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School after graduating he joined the army and proudly served receiving a good conduct award and numerous trooper of the day awards. After receiving an honorable discharge, he started a family of his own.
He was an avid fan of football , baseball and the races. Floyd was almost always at the waterford speedbowl with his boys and his nephew Nikkolas as they grew up.
He is survived by his wife Mary Evans of Ledyard , his father Floyd Evans of Ledyard, his brother Kenny Evans and his wife Paula of Cape Coral Fl , his brother Greg and his wife Debbie of Ledyard, and his sister Mari Evans and her fiance Jamie Bircumshaw of Myrtle Beach SC. His 6 children Jennifer Richards and Andrew Evans of Coventry RI , Kelly Hill of Smithfield RI, Daniel Cirrito of Ledyard, Amanda Gordon and Ryan Evans of Gadsden AL. In addition to 6 grandchildren and numerous great nieces and great nephews, Floyd is also survived by his 2 nephews and niece Nikkolas Liggett and his fiance Stephanie Elmore of Oakdale , Matthew Evans of Cape Coral FL., Kimberly Collins and her husband Adam Collins of Groton.
Calling hours will be Wednesday December 28th from 5-7pm. Followed by a celebration of life service at 7:15pm both held at the Dinoto Funeral Home 17 Pearl St Mystic, CT A private family burial will follow at a later date.
