Obituary


Jean Phelan Cataldo, age 85, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 20, 2022.

Jean was born on March 26, 1937, in Norwood, MA. Jean grew up in Norfolk, MA, after high school she attended Fisher Junior college in Boston. After graduation, Jean worked for the Ice Capades in an administrative role and traveled throughout the country. Jean loved her time with the Ice Capades and made many lifelong friends. After raising her three boys in Franklin, she went on to work at Goodwin Proctor and Hoar in Boston for many years ultimately becoming a supervisor of reception. Jean enjoyed taking the train to work until her retirement.

Jean loved the 4th of July, gardening, traveling, the ocean and spending time with her family. Jean was active in her community including serving as co-chair of the July 4th Celebration Committee, steering committee member of St. Rocco’s Festival and countless other town organizations. Jean was a past recipient of the Franklin Rotary Club’s citizen of the year award.

Jean is survived by her husband of many years Paul A. Cataldo, two sons, Joseph P. Cataldo and his wife Wendy, Michael P. Cataldo and his wife Amy, her six grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Matthew, John, Madison, and Kate. Also surviving is her brother Jim Phelan.

She was the mother of the late John P. Cataldo and sister of the late Matthew J. Phelan and Thomas Jackson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass Tuesday December 27th, in St. Mary's Church, 1 Church Square Franklin at 10AM.

Her interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
