Obituary





Gerald J. Bradanese passed away at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington on Saturday December 17th. He was 83. Raised in Boston’s West End, he was the son of the late Aristide and Victoria (Zazulak) Bradanese.

Gerald served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War and worked as a truck driver with the Teamsters. He was appointed to the Medford Fire Department in 1975 and enjoyed a nearly thirty year career serving his community as a firefighter. Throughout most of his years on the department, Gerald served at headquarters on Ladder 1. Gerald was a real car guy and always looked forward to having a new car. He was a great golfer and loved to travel. He and his late wife enjoyed winters in Naples, Florida and enjoyed family gatherings especially with his grandchildren at their home on Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire. Gerald was a great Boston sports fan and a noteworthy pizza chef. Gerald was devoted his family and gave all he could for his wife, children and grandchildren.

The beloved husband of the late Nancy E. (Hunt) Bradanese, Gerald was a devoted father of Gerald Bradanese II and his wife Karen of Billerica, Sean Bradanese of Revere, Missy Costa and her husband Andrew of Reading and Marc Bradanese and his wife Debbie of Billerica. He was a loving grandfather of Eric and his wife Libby, Nicholas, Patrick, Hunter, Bradley, Lynsey, Josh, Katie, Tyler and Colin. He was a loving great-grandfather of Greyson and Ava. He leaves his sister Victoria Bradanese and was predeceased by his brother Robert Bradanese.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Thursday from 4 – 8 PM. A private family burial service will be conducted.
