Obituary

Edith J. Starble, a lifelong resident of Woburn passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 18th, 2022, at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington. She was 89. "Sis", as she was known to family and friends, was born in Woburn and was the daughter of the late Francis C. and Edith (Yarossi) Starble.

Edith was raised and educated in Woburn and was a graduate of Woburn High School with the class of 1950. As a young woman, Edith worked as the secretary to Mayor Gilgun for 25 years and was able to meet both President John F. Kennedy and Senator Ted Kennedy. Later she moved on to Gilbert insurance for another 25 years before retiring at the age of 80. She would often joke about how much she was amazed by the fax machine and of course, having a hold button on the phone. Edith was the favorite aunt, having always offered to take in so many different family members from time to time. She often hosted the large holiday parties and was always a welcomed sight anywhere she went. Still active right to the end with going to the hairdresser and then lunch with "the girls" every month.

Edith is survived by her nieces Patricia DeMars of Salem, MA and Paula Pellino of Nashua NH, along with nephews Douglas Jones of Lynn, Eric and Scott Starble both of Woburn. Predeceased by her brother Marty Starble and his wife Evelyn, sister Dorothy "Dot" Mahoney and her husband Dan, sister Evelyn Aimo and her husband Karl, and nephew Dana Mahoney.
