William L. Schell, 86, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, May 27, 2006 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Kelly Brown, Rev. Gerald Thomas and Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 until 9 Monday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Schell was born March 30, 1920 in Jeff Davis County, Georgia to the late John Samuel and Alice McLoon Schell. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army and had lived in the community since 1946. He was a retired conductor with CSX Railroad. He was a member of the United Trainworkers Union, a 50-year Mason and a member of the Hasan Shrine Temple. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and had served as secretary and treasurer of the Baracca Sunday School Class. He also served as secretary of the sunday school department.
Mr. Schell is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elwanda Lee Schell of Fitzgerald; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Sarah Schell, and David and Lucy Schell, and a daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Emory Cobb, all of Fitzgerald. 9 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
