Lorin R. Marshall, 86, of Mansfield died on Saturday May 27, 2006 at the Life Care Center in Attleboro, MA surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Emma M. (Gross) Marshall to whom he was married to for 60 years at the time of her death on December 27, 2004.
Born in Roxbury, MA on July 24, 1919 he was a loving son of the late Ernest and Edith (Hartwell) Marshall.
He was educated in Mansfield schools. A United States Coast Guard veteran he served his country during WWII as a Gunners Mate 2nd Class aboard The USS Joyce. He was awarded 5 combat ribbons.
Lorin had worked at The Foxboro Co. in Foxboro as an Engineer for 30 years before his retirement in 1983. He had formerly worked for the Malcolm Fales Oil Co. in Mansfield. He had lived in Mansfield for the past 81 years.
He had attended the Orthodox Congregational Church in Mansfield. Besides spending time with his loving family, he also enjoyed fishing, woodworking and gardening.
He is survived by his devoted children Alan J. Marshall of Attleboro, Robert R. Marshall of Mansfield, Diane E. Chaitman of Overland Park, Kansas and Jean S. Amaral of Warren, R.I. He was the dear brother of the late Albert Marshall, Ernestine Marshall, Omar White and Helen Signorelli. He is also survived by his cherished 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday May 31st at 1:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield. Burial will be held at a later date in The Spring Brook Cemetery, Mansfield.
