Howard W. Boyd – Age 82, of Titusville, FL, formerly of Wellesley Hills, passed away May 26th at the Azalea manor Home in Orlando, FL. He was the husband of Jane G. Boyd for 60 years until her passing in May 2004. He is survived by his three sons Howard W. Boyd Jr. of East Bridgewater, Bruce L. Boyd of Titusville, FL, and Scott C. Boyd of Rochester, their spouses and three grandchildren. Born in South Weymouth he was the son of the late Emma Mae and Howard H. Boyd. He was the brother of the late William Boyd and the late Louise MacDonald and Dorothy Gereau. He graduated from Wellesley High School, Class of 1942, and attended Knox College in IL. He piloted a B-26 Bomber over Europe, Africa and the Middle East during World War II. He began his insurance career in 1950 with The Home Indemnity Company in Boston and in 1957 joined the Norfolk and Dedham Mutual Fire Insurance Company where, at his retirement in 1988, he was Senior Vice President. From 1973 until 1985 he and his family owned and operated Cape Cod KOA Campground in Rochester, MA. He and his wife enjoyed RVing and spending winters in Arizona or Florida. He was a member of Christ Church United Methodist in Wellesley and as a Mason he was a member of the Maugus Hill Lodge in Wellesley.
Funeral Service in the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., (Rt.16) Wellesley, Thursday June 1, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Johanne Dame, Pastor of the Christ Church United Methodist of Wellesley. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visitation prior to the service from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
