Obituary



Pasquale "Pat" Marano, age 82, of Somerville, MA peacefully passed away on December 13, 2022 at home surrounded by family.

Pasquale Marano was born on November 18, 1940, the son of Giuseppe and Generosa Marano of Pratola Serra, Avellino in Italy. He moved to the US at age 14 where his family settled in the North End of Boston. He soon met his future wife Elizabeth Cinelli who immigrated from Ogliastro Cilento, Salerno in Italy. They married in 1965 and became lifelong residents in Somerville. He worked several jobs including being a baker, a barber, and made Converse shoes but focused his former years as a talented plasterer. He worked at Boston College for 24 years as a well-respected plaster man and retired in 2008. Pat couldn't have been more proud of his two sons, Joey and Louis. He loved spending time with family, working in the garden, fishing, socializing at the club in the North End, family meals, and watching sports. The birth of his 2 granddaughters, Brooke and Sarah, brought out an unmatched happiness in his life.

Pat was a quiet and generous man and will be greatly missed. Pat was predeceased by his beloved son Joey (2020), his brother Nicola (and wife, Antonetta, of Italy), his sister Carmella (and husband, Giuseppe, of Revere), and his 3 sisters-in-law ( Antonette, Barbara, and Carmella and their respective husband's) and his sister Lidia's husband, Giuseppe.

Pat is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty, of Somerville, his beloved and devoted son, Louis (and wife, Jennifer) and granddaughters, Brooke and Sarah Marano, of Tewksbury. He was also survived by his loving twin brother, Ralph Marano (and wife Annabella of Revere), his sister Lidia Mauro (of Medford), and brother-in-law Nicholas Cinelli (and wife, Susan, of Florida) and his daughter in-law, Lori (and her 2 children, Justin and Amanda, and their respective spouses and her grandson), and a multitude of cousins, nieces/nephews, and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit on Monday, December 19 from 4 - 8 PM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. The funeral procession will gather on Tuesday, December 20th at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 AM in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford. services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.

Thank you to the hospice and home health team for all their care and support as his Parkinson’s disease progressed.
