Marjory (Gonsalves) Tavares, 75, of Westport, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Fall River Healthcare following a courageous battle with vascular Dementia. She was the wife of George S. Tavares, they shared 52 years of marriage.
Mrs. Tavares was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Henry and Stasia (Bindas) Gonsalves and had resided in Westport since 1983. Prior to retirement, she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for various area nursing homes. She enjoyed watching mystery shows and shopping on QVC.
Survivors along with her husband include her son: George Tavares and his partner Lori Correa of Westport; her daughter: Sharlene Botelho and her partner Timothy Bernardo of Fairhaven; and 4 grandchildren: Alexandra, Madison, Blake and Brock.
She was the grandmother of the late Matthew Tavares and sister of the late Michael Gonsalves.
Memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the Potter Funeral Home at 6:30 P.M.
Memorial visitation will be Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 5-6:30 P.M., prior to the service.
Interment will be private.
