Obituary

Alfred Appel Jr. 76 years old died unexpectedly on November 30, 2022.

Al was born in Boston and spent his entire life in Dedham, MA. Son of Grace (Dinsmore) and Alfred Appel of Dedham, brother of Grace (Appel) Morin and her husband John Morin of Destin, Florida.

Al is the beloved husband of Jo Ann (Potter) Appel, Loving father of Matthew and his wife Amy Appel of Westwood, Natalie (Appel) and her husband Gregg Lindsay of Topsfield and Sarah Potter and her significant other Rich Kastriner of Brookline. Proud Papa of Caroline (19), Ryan (18), Katie (16), Drew (10), Luke (5) and Jack (2).

Al graduated from Bentley College with Bachelor of Business Administration and Master’s in Taxation. Al spent 35+ years at The TJX Companies, Inc. retiring as Senior Vice President, Corporate Tax Director and Risk Director.

In his early years he enjoyed playing Tennis while later in life learning and loving the game of Golf. Al was an avid sports fan enjoying all live sports events especially going to the Patriots where he was a season tickets holder for 20 years.

Al was always a caretaker to his family, extended family, friends, and anyone who needed it. Al was a loyal friend to many, he enjoyed being around people and loved to talk. He would often talk your ear off.

Al’s biggest joy in life was his family. He loved being a husband, Dad and Grandfather. He never missed an opportunity to travel with his wife, cheer on his grandkids at their sports events, summer vacation with his entire family and give them all advice.

Al will be most remembered as a loyal, honest, kind, thoughtful and all-around good man who will be missed by many.

Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham on Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 4-8pm. A funeral service will be held in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 59 Court St., Dedham on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Brookdale Cemetery.
