Obituary

CHICOPEE – Charles R. Samson, 89, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, December 1, 2022. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving wife and family. He was born at home on Skeele Street in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, the beloved son of the late Charles H. and Mary D. (Chaiffre) Samson. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee Vocational High School and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War and attained the rank of Fireman. He was employed as a local Mason Contractor. He was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. He was a member and Past Exulted Ruler of the Chicopee Lodge of Elks 1849, a former member of the Fairview Knights of Columbus Council 4044 and currently was a member of the Elder Council 69 Knights of Columbus, all in Chicopee. During his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing in his younger years, spending time with his family, and traveling and wintering in Cape Coral, Florida. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Patricia A. (Mahoney) Samson. They were married on January 31, 1986 in Chicopee and were blessed with over 36 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving step children, Mary K. Sposito and her husband, Donald, of Coventry, CT and Jarrod D. Page and his wife, Michelle, of San Diego, CA; his two cherished grandchildren, Lauren and Anthony Sposito; his three dear nephews, Robert Rigali of Apopka, FL, James Rigali of Venice, FL and Richard Rigali of South Hadley; and his many dear extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear sister, Phyllis Rigali and her husband, John; his dear brother in law, Steven Mahoney; and his dear nephew, Joseph Rigali. His Funeral will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial with United States Navy Military Honors will be private at Sainte Rose Cemetery in Chicopee. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, December 12, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. prior to his Mass. The funeral home parking lot is located in the rear.
