Salem
Lena (Jean) Cripps, 92, of Salem, passed away unexpectedly, at home, Monday, November 28, 2022. She was the devoted wife of the late Milton C. Cripps with whom she had shared 56 years of marriage.
Born in the Province of Quebec, Canada and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Alexandrine (Blanchette) Jean. Lena first worked at the candy concession stand at the Paramount Theater in Salem. It was there that she first met Milton, the love of her Life. Devoted to her family, she and Milton were to have six children. As the young family progressed with their schooling Lena began working in the electronic products field for Shetland, Unitrode and EG&G.
A quiet home loving woman, she enjoyed reading, puzzles, cribbage and Sudoku, but family came first. Lena’s family and large extended family was always number one. She was a Long time member of Ste. Anne Parish, and will be greatly missed by many.
Lena is survived by her four sons, Michael A. Cripps and wife Laura of Peabody, Jeffrey A Cripps and wife Cheryl of Salem, Steven J Cripps of Peabody & Wayne H. Cripps and wife Patricia of Simpsonville, SC, her two daughters, Lisa J. Levesque and husband Steve of Salem and Leslie J. Dunton and husband David of Danvers. She also leaves her sister, Pauline Jean of Salem, fourteen grandchildren; Dawn, James, Ashley, Alexandra, Nathan, Eric, Jenna, Jill, Jeffrey, Michael, Michelle, Avary, Addison and Brooke, as well as seventeen great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Julliette Corriveau, Lucinne Pelletier, Florence Harvey, Gisele Bouchard and Yvette Corriveau.
Relatives and friends are invited to an hour of visiting on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave, Salem at 10:00 AM to be followed by her Mass of Christian Burial in church at 11:00 AM. A committal service will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
