Obituary

CORDWELL- Of Melrose, by accident in Ossipee, New Hampshire, May 25th, James W. Cordwell, Sr. Husband of Betty Cordwell of Melrose. Devoted father of James W. Corwell, Jr. of Tewksbury, Bonnie Retalic of Plaistow, New Hampshire and Kelly Mitchell of Jaffery, New Hampshire. Longtime companion of Rita Cronin of Melrose. Beloved brother of Charles, Elaine, Doris, Grace, Marlene, Joanne and the late Ronald, Wesley and Caroline. Lovingly survived by 6 grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral Service in the Smith Funeral Home, 125 Washington Avenue, CHELSEA on Friday morning, June 2nd at 11 o'clock. Friends may visit with the family begining at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment at Glenwood Cemetery, Everett.

Originally from Chelsea and a resident of Melrose and Ossipee, New Hampshire, James, at 72 years of age, passed away unexpectedly late Thursday afternoon as a result of a motor vechicle accident on Route 16 in West Nottingham, New Hampshire.

A baker by trade, he was the owner of a number of Donut Shops in the area, including 2 in Chelsea, one on Fifth Street and the other located at Broadway and Webster Avenue.

He was also a United States Armed Forces Veteran.
