LEICESTER: Dorothy S. (Kenny) Hamel,102, Leicester's oldest living resident and holder of the Old Boston Post Road Cane, died Thursday, Nov. 24th. in Rose Monahan Hospice Home, Worcester.
She was the wife of George A. Hamel, who died in 2005. She leaves several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a member of St. Joseph-St. Pius X Parish, the Leicester Senior Citizen Club, Friends of the Elders, a volunteer driver for F.I.S.H. and a 50 + year member of United Commercial Travelers.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Josephine (Swirbliss) Kenny and later graduated from the former Commerce High School in Worcester.
Private services and burial will be held in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. The MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. Donations in Dorothy's name may be made to the Leicester Senior Center, 40 Winslow Ave., Leicester, MA 01524.
